Free Lunch Fridays Return

A little over a month ago I informed everyone about how my department gets free lunch each Friday, particularly how one Chinese food buffet was absolutely vom-worthy.  Then last week I informed the fours of readers here at BeehiveHairdresser.com about how the free lunch each Friday had been stripped from our enjoyment.

Slightly good news….IT’S BACK!!!

Around 11:15 the partially deaf grumpy admin came over with a question, after I gave her the answer a second time she informed that Free Lunch Fridays was being picked up for a second season, and that it was scheduled for a noon start time today.

Woo Hoo!  My coworkers and I all did the dance of joy, and proclaimed the management as being good souls once again.

No less than five minutes later the very same partially deaf grumpy admin came back over to inform us, that we weren’t allowed inside the conference room for food until 12:15PM due to the revised expense reporting manual.  Apparently myself and the people around me don’t qualify for free meals paid for by the company, so we’d have to go once the managers have come and gone.

Needless to say, things only went downhill from there.  I saw my manager wheeling the cart of food to the conference room at 12:15, and said, “Mmm looks delicious.”

Her response wasn’t good, avoided eye contact, and only a crack of a smile.

Turns out the free lunch was actually intended for a management meeting, and we were “allowed” to scavenge for the leftovers.

I passed on the scavenge line while the meeting attendees sat and chit chatted post meeting, watching as the lowly and neglected employees scavenged like vultures for a bologna and cheese sandwich.  Instead I ended up with five dollar street meat mix of lamb and chicken…

With it’s delicious white sauce!

It was way better than semi dusty low cost deli cold cut sandwiches, that may or may not have contained various hairs from the 30 plus people who had previously scampered through them and pick out the best looking ones.
