Flash Pop Candy

Cheese and I went to the local scumbag decrepit movie theater in my Brooklyn neighborhood.  It’s a theater that has been many better days, most likely its best were in the 1920s through the 1950s.  It’s also one of the theaters that I used to go to as a kid, back when sneaking in candy and soda was fun and cool, so we decided to have a throw back day and sneak in some candy and soda.

We were lucky to find that the corner bodega that was still open across the street from the theater, and inside I came across this strange new version of a Push Pop, it’s called a Flash Pop.

From what I could initially tell, the thing was exactly like the Push Pop sans push, and with the enhanced ability to light up at the push of a button.

I wanted to devour it during the movie but the packaging became entirely too difficult to open.

Like I said, the thing lights up!  Unfortunately I had to wait until I got home in order to open it up and have a taste, and I was correct, exactly like a Push Pop sans push.

The packaging was so hard to open that I needed to cut the outside clear wrapper with scissors, twist the second layer wrapper open – this allowed the cap to be removed, and then remove plastic that was stuck to the candy itself underneath the hard plastic cover.

Considering the length of tamper-proofing, one should expect something healthy, or at the very least a candy without some sort of battery and light source inside…

The light is so strong you could see it through my mouth in a darkened room.  I swear to you that is me pictured above, honestly, I am.

Flash Pops rock, and they are so stylish for the man on the go.

From now on the Flash Pop will be my trademark wardrobe piece, much how sunglasses are to Bono, this Flash Pop will become synonymous with Beehive.
