Saturday afternoon found me with a friend inside the newly reopened bottom portion of MoMa, with all “new” pieces of art on display.  While touring around down there my friend says, “Oh my, look at that guard falling asleep against the wall!”

I turned, and sure enough found a guard trying his hardest to make a 90 degree upright wall become a comfy bed - and he was actually succeeding in making it look comfy.

We stood there for roughly five to seven minutes, laughing and photographing him while he fidgeted in his attempts at sleep, and in the process caught him taking a couple of head bobbles over to wake him up. 

He never looked up at us, and instead walked over to another spot on the wall to sleep, until finding his way back to “his” comfy spot.

Stretchy….

OOOOOOOOH, that feels good.

While laughing at his sight, I couldn’t help but wonder what was going through the mind of the other guard in the room.  Was she cool and understanding of this?  Was this a regular thing?  Or, was she going to beat him up when nobody was looking?  Who knows…

Anyways, sleeping beauty found his way into the dimly lit room that had a video exhibition going on inside of it.  This room had a soft bench to sleep on, and made for a comfy spot.

ZONK!

I sat directly behind him on the bench, and a couple of minutes into the video, I felt and heard the sleeping guard flop over and slightly off of the bench, catching himself with his legs before he was able to sprawl out on the floor. 

I don’t think that he was narcoleptic, and he didn’t seem like the club-kid type, drugs?  Maybe?  My friend thinks that the guy was falling asleep due to complete boredom for being a guard - quite possibly.

In either case, due to this guard alone, I highly recommend checking out the new MoMa exhibit soon.
