Bay Ridge Gore Tour #13

This is the Lawren Hall apartment building located on 93rd Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues, right around the corner from the B. R. Star’s gore stop.

Despite my not being able to find a news story online about it, I do know of a gory tale that happened at this six floor apartment building.

It happened either during the summer of 1998.  I was walking up this block, on the side of Lawren Hall as I always did back then on the way to the subway for my job, and I stumbled upon an ambulance, a cop car, and a taped off area.

Oh yeah, and there was also the lifeless body of a man in a suit lying across the sidewalk with a white sheet covering most of his body.

The body was roughly in between the pole on the left, and the round bush to the right - directly sprawled out across the middle of the sidewalk.

Seeing as how it was before 8AM  and the guy was in a suit, I thought a guy on his way to work dropped dead of a heart attack, but this wasn’t the case.

A couple of days later I read in the paper that the man was an unemployed Eastern European man, he was either from the Ukraine or Russia (I forget), and he had come to America to find work and a better life for himself and his family.

Unfortunately for him, he eventually wasn’t able to find steady work and became suicidal.

One morning in 1998, he decided to go up to the roof and throw himself off of it, which he did, and he killed himself.

Quite sad.
