Bay Ridge Gore Tour #21

This is a photo of the Dunkin’ Donuts on the corner of 5th Avenue and 85th Street.

It was here in front of this Dunkin’ Donuts on a night in the early 1990s that a tragic turn of events that most likely - just like the many other Gore Tour stops - was preceded with poor judgement in the decision making process by multiple persons.

My sisters and I grew up alongside one the participants (and his brothers) of this Gore Tour scene, who I will need to redact due to my future potential employment reasons of which I seriously cannot disclose.

From what I remember on the news, [redacted] and his friends had gotten into an altercation with a different group of guys, some sort of fight or argument began, [redacted] or one of his friends went into the trunk of their car and pulled out a baseball bat to help bring a swift end to the altercation.

Well, they brought a baseball bat to a gun fight.

Someone from the opposing group of guys pulled out a gun and fired into [redacted] and his friends.

I’m not sure how many guys were shot, but one of [redacted's] friends was definitely shot, badly.  He was left alive barely and in a coma - where he stayed for years before he eventually died, apparently from his injuries related to the shooting.

Last I heard of the case was roughly five years after the shooting with the shooter not having ever been found.

[redacted] and brothers have since gone on to have amazingly close calls with gory scenes of death only to escape physically unharmed for the most - while receiving some mental scarring along the way.  I hope that one of them or perhaps their mother decides to write it all into an amazing book one day.

It all just goes to show how the simplest decisions in life can make or break you.
