NFL Season Of Begins

With the NFL season having been officially kicked off last night with the Redskins taking on the Giants, I can’t help but feel saddened by the start.

As a lifelong Jets fan who has almost always endured a losing Jets season each and every year of his life, the start of this season comes with the Jets being at the pinnacle of fun, hope and excitement in my lifetime - 28 years.

Since the Jets acquired Brett Favre this summer, I like most other fans have been ecstatic simply due to the fact that we have a QB who is a winner - we’re rarely a winner to the point that even though Favre hasn’t won for us (yet) we still feel as though he’s our champion.

The fact that Favre is our QB makes Jets fans want to throw him a ticker tape parade just for making us feel like champions - that’s how much hope and happiness that Favre brings us.

All of this hope to start off the season can lead to one of two paths - the first being an actual great season with the Jets at least going well into the post season with a strong team, thereby making all of those losing seasons all the more worth it so that the taste of victory feels that much sweeter…or the worse path - and more likely based off of nearly every other season of my lifetime - the Jets will fail miserably by having an awful season filled with almosts and everyone will still go to the games with the regular old mentality of “Same old Jets”, lose go home, and continue life as normal.

My guess for the season is that we finish up 11 and 5, only to lose in the second round of the playoffs.  The chance of losing in the playoffs!!!  This is what I’m hoping for!
