This is Lowen’s Pharmacy which is located on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 69th Street. Lowen’s has been a staple of the neighborhood for generations, and in the past year was implicated as allegedly being the largest HGH factory in the nation.
Not only that, but it was alleged to have been the source of a massive inter-state HGH and illegal steroid ring, having apparently sold substances acquired by questionable prescriptions to various pro athletes as well as members of the NYPD and FDNY. Oh, and did I mention that one of the main business partners was sent to jail for conspiring with the Gambino crime family for trying to extort Steven Segal.
Anyway, back in January of 2008 the 2nd floor above Lowen’s was the scene of gore!
Lowen’s pharmacist John Rossi was found shot to death in the 2nd floor office, dead of an apparent suicide.
A note with the words “Please forgive me” along with a .380 Beretta was found near his body. Rossi apparently shot himself in the stomach, and then the head – with rumors having swirled that there was a first shot that missed his head altogether and ended up in the wall.
In the saddest twist of events, Rossi’s daughter had just given birth to his grandson the day he died.
