This is the old Victory Memorial Hospital located on 92nd Street near 7th Avenue. Just this past June it was the scene of some ironic gore.
See, the portion of the hospital behind the tree is the old emergency room and had been open to incoming patients up until this year.
Well, shortly after the ER shuttered to emergencies, and while the hospital remained open, a bad car wreck happened directly in front of it!
“Lucky us for being right in front of the hospital.” Would have been my thought had I been in the accident, but NOPE, since the ER was closed, the hospital could do nothing for the crash victims and so hospital staff stood by and watched helplessly…
After waiting for an ambulance for 20 minutes, the victims were taken five miles away to Beth Israel Hospital in the Flatlands.
Thankfully the victims of the accident survived, but damn! What a crazy turn of gory events!
