3,080 Calories Worth Of Burgers!!!
by beehive on Sep.17, 2008, under Uncategorized
It started simple enough with a conversation like this:
BeehiveHairdresser: Man, I really want to try the Wendy’s Baconator!
Ken: I’ve really been wanting to go for the Angus Third Pounder.
BeehiveHairdresser: (laughing) We should do a tour hitting up the big three - the Angus, the Baconator, and the Steakhouse burgers.
Ken: Oh man, that sounds like a bad idea, I’m up for doing that.
And so it was that Ken of PiercingMetal and I were off for our experimental burger tour this past Saturday afternoon. A tour that had us eat at least 3,080 calories worth of fast food burgers.
I don’t recommend anyone try this burger experiment out again…read the full story which is accompanied by many photos after the jump…
Our first stop was McDonald’s and a 770 calorie Angus Third Pounder…
I was very excited to begin…
My personal take on the McDonald’s Angus Third Pounder was that it was a knock off of the standard Wendy’s Single with Cheese - only much more salty. I found it to be overall quite tasty once I got used to the excess salt content - but I’d much rather a real Wendy’s in the future.
One down, two to go, and my tummy was feeling great!
All that salt made me quite thirsty as we went to SoHo for the Wendy’s Baconator.
Only half an hour after the Angus Third Pounder I was not feeling well…
I wasn’t sure if it was the salt content or the fact that my body just isn’t used to fast food, and for a moment I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to hold up for the remainder of the tour.
Thankfully upon entering Wendy’s I got my second wind…and at least a 790 calorie Baconator…
All of these burgers were massive…
Looking at these Baconator photos is giving me the chills…
Holy crap that was good!!!
After eating that one Baconator I seriously could have swam in an ocean of Baconators until I drowned a bacony death and it would have been alright with me - yes, the Baconator was THAT GOOD!!!
By the time we reached the subway to ride back out to a Burger King in Brooklyn we each had finished a liter of water - in less than three hours.
Nearing the stop for the Burger King I was feeling quite cocky and said to myself, “I was born ready!”
The last stop was Burger King, Home of the 1530 calorie Steakhouse Burger.
I’m not going to lie, I was quite scared of this burger. The thing was bigger than my two fists put together!
And it looked to be quite the nastier of the three…
Here I am NOT looking forward to eating 1530 calories…
Since it was the last stop on the tour I ended up treating myself to a small Sprite…
The Steakhouse Burger was surprisingly really delicious. Not delicious enough to make me want to swim out to a sea of steak and the drown, but tasty enough to make the fact that it was over 1,500 calories seem worthwhile.
Holy CRAP!!! I just ate 3,080 calories!!!
And I made my mom very, very proud of me…
I came, I saw, I ate, I conquered, and then I napped the rest of the day until the morning…from 5PM to 7:30AM - I could barely move.
For those who wonder about this…the Baconator took home the Blue Ribbon, while the Steakhouse Burger took home the Silver Medal, and thus leaving the Angus Third Pounder taking home the Daytime Emmy for Best Lighting - I highly recommend that everyone try the Baconator and Steakhouse Burgers, they just might change your life!

In reviewing and now reliving the whole day’s event thanks to your post, I honestly think that all the walking we did between each franchise kept us conscious and not in the state of “food coma” that one often gets from such a massive dose of fast food. It bears mentioning that we did not add french fries or sodas to the mix and kept it to water and only treated ourselves to the Sprite on the final leg of the tour.
I am in agreement with you about the Angus taking third but the readers should know that I had the one with Swiss Cheese and Mushroom and found it rather bland. Lucky for me the pepper packets upgraded it a bit along with your burgers discarded pickles. I think that Angus version required a spicy mayonnaise or something else to kick its taste up a notch. We disconnect on the winner of the battle however, as while I enjoyed the Baconator I think the Steakhouse won out in terms of overall taste. Either way it was a lot of fun to experiment with this one and perhaps if all three places introduce something new and interesting once again that we shall repeat the adventure.
Maybe the next go round should be Quiznos, Subway and Blimpie……..or maybe the Chicken Sandwiches….hmmmmm.

Ugh! I can’t even walk a block away from Subway sandwich shops. That place reeks of nasty that floats a block away - yuck!

I am so very glad to know the outcome of this feat. Congrats on not vomiting in between joints
