Back in September by buddy Ken and I went on a burger tour eating at McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s all in one afternoon for a total of at least 3,080 calories. If you haven’t read about it yet allow me to strongly urge you to read all about it first by clicking this link.
This past week Ken and I decided to hit up Five Guys Burger and Fries to take a test drive of the food.

To our surprise they offer peanuts to eat while you wait for your burgers to be cooked – the burgers are cooked upon order instead of being cooked and waiting for someone to order them like some other burger joints.

I went with the cheeseburger with tomato, onion, lettuce and ketchup on it.

It absolutely looked, smelled and tasted delicious!

What I noticed about the burger is that it wasn’t one patty that made up the burger, and instead appeared to be three patties placed on the bun to meet the weight quota of the burger.

Seeing as we weren’t about to take another burger tour and because it was my first time there I decided to order the fries.
I ordered the “special” or “spicy” fries and I had no idea that ordering fries could be so difficult – it was a Who’s On First sort of experience with the cashier asking if you want the special, which one would assume would be a deal on price, but no…he’s talking about special spices and not prices…three minutes of slow explanation we got to the bottom of it.

Anyway, they give you a serious amount of fries with the large order of fries. This isn’t even a quarter of the fries given, and they were SERIOUSLY TASTY!!!
I’m not all for spicy hot – these fries were spicy YUM!!!

Check out the grease on the paper bag that the food comes with. It’s definitely not bad/unhealthy grease and would probably be best classified as love grease made to fill your tummy with deliciousness.

Overall I would have to say that Five Guys provides really good, tasty and juicy burgers and delicious fries. I was completely and utterly satisfied with the food taste and even the food aftertaste* – but I could have done without a $14 and change bill to buy said food.
Bottom line…at $14 Five Guys would be just too pricey for fast food in my budget even if I had a job – I’d rather have a real restaurant for the same money or a little more to eat at a place that is a sit down and order kind of place that doesn’t require you to ring a bell and get buzzed into a bathroom.
*In all seriousness, post Five Guys I could not stop burping. The food seems to have been concocted by a chemist and has a near perfect burp recipe. Take a look after the jump to see for yourself…
This photo is of me as I’m burping. It wasn’t planned…

Five Guys…Five Stars for taste…no stars for price.
