Tree Falling Down (Slowly)

This is the city owned tree that sits in front of 362 92nd Street.

As you can see it is quite beautiful.  It is also beginning to show signs of wear and tear after the past week full of rain and stormy weather.

That is a new crack and it’s over a foot long.

Part of this baby is peeling off and wants to come down, hopefully the city will cut that branch off before it falls on its own  most likely crushing the parked car underneath - or worse an occupied car.

The branch that is peeling away with the crack is the bottom left of the tree.  While it isn’t a giant branch of a london plane tree, it will total any car that it lands on.

So don’t park underneath this tree.

I called 311 to report the problem (like a super geek #C1-1-477950105) and the NYC Parks Department is supposed to swing on by within four days to take a look and make their own assessment as to weather or not it should be cut off.
