The other day we finally popped our Cortelyou Road subway station cherry.

It’s an odd station in that one can seemingly throw a rock to the nearby Beverly Road station and because the platforms appear to be underneath the backyard of the homes that line the tracks.
Though the coolest part of the station is this old Greenfeld Chemist painted billboard that advertises drugs, soda, prescriptions and a luncheonette.

The Greenfield sign is at the Cortelyou Road station, visible from the Coney Island-bound side of the station.
The houses were built when there were just two tracks, at ground level. The tracks were widened to four and put below grade in the early 20th Century.
