We finally received a 2010 penny in our change and were dismayed by its sight. Though the front was kept standard, the penny has a new look on the back for some odd reason.

The back has much to be desired…

We’re not sure who came up with the Captain America shield theme, but we don’t like it — and not simply because we’re not a fan of change. The Lincoln Memorial on the back of the previous years of the penny made sense to us since Abe Lincoln was on the front and gave the penny an austere of authority and worth.
This new back utilizes a different definition of austere…
Not only is the look different, but the weight and make up of the penny seems to have changed dramatically as well. It feels significantly lighter and thinner to the touch — and reminds us old older, weak currency, such as early 1950s Serbian Dinara coins and the early 1920s German Mark coins.

Haven’t seen one yet. I don’t like either. It looks cheezy. Actually, I’m surprised it doesn’t have Obama’s face on one side and his logo on the other…
i just received a penny from work like this.I prefer the older one.the captain america shield really doesnt portray any type of significance to the abe lincoln in the front
I got one as well, and I think the phrase, “Simplicity is beauty” definitely does NOT apply here. If almost seems to have come from a child’s register, the design is so boring!
