Signs Of Brooklyn Junkies

This is one of the telltale signs of people being strung out, in need of illegal drugs and looking for cash to get there fix.

The M.O. is to smash the window of a car, then scavenge through the middle console in hopes of finding cash, phones, iPods, and anything else of value that they can carry away and easily trade or sell.  This smashed window was one of two broken windows found on Monday morning along 93rd Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  Three more vehicles had windows smashed Saturday night down on 71st Street in Bay Ridge.

We’ve seen sights like this scores of times all over southern Brooklyn during the past few months.  Everywhere from Marine Park, to Ditmas Park, to Gravesend, to Sheepshead Bay, to Midwood, to Flatbush, to Canarsie, to Bay Ridge seems to have idiots looking for a way to get their fix. 

So, if you have a middle console in between the two front seats, like the one pictured above, it’s probably a good idea to start leaving it empty and open.  By leaving it empty and open, junkies will see that your vehicle has no need to be smashed since they can see that there is nothing to grab.
