Ten years back we were foolishly pursuing stand-up comedy. One night we walked into a dive bar on the Lower East Side to try to get a slot to perform and found fellow Brooklynite MCA sitting in the front near the stage. His friend, Dave Chappelle, had decided to drop in to an otherwise lowly stand-up spot to do a 90 minute set made of mostly improved material.
Chappelle was magical. He still is. So is this mural of MCA in the East Village.
