Tree Porn: Reincarnate

Though we ran a post back in January of 2011 about the death of a weeping willow in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, we are happy to say that death sure did bring about a new beginning and life for this particular tree.

All that it took was the death of all of its branches and the majority of its trunk for it to start fresh.

Daffodils And Dead Trees

It’s been months since Hurricane Sandy knocked over many trees in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Now that is is spring, it’s all daffodils and dead trees.

Tree Porn: Treehuggers

We don’t know what these two ladies may or may not have been on, but the one of the right spent several minutes trying to do handstands that ended up with her falling onto her head repeatedly before running up to that cherry tree and giving it a big long hug.

Oh treehuggers, you’re usually drunk or high on something.

God’s Got Back Up

While strolling past the grounds of Visitation Academy, which is an all girls Catholic school, church and monastery, we noticed some new security cameras had been erected at the site where a cement lamb was decapitated last year.

The cameras were installed to watch the area when God is asleep, because being all knowing and everywhere at once is hard to do in the age of Facebook, obviously.

Think of these as God’s back up eyes, for when one of his cement lambs walk away from his shepherd.

Poor little hysterically decapitated cement lamb left for the world to see look silly as can be.

Tree Porn – Treemendous Project

While strolling along Houston Street, we came across the remnants of a Hurricane Sandy victim, as well as the art project of remembrance of said victim.  Victim being an old tree.

“Dear Hurricane Sandy,
We understand you were mad so you flooded our city and knocked down our homes, taking a few trees along with you.  Well, actually a lot of trees.

We’ve installed this artwork here as memory of the life that used to be.
As they say, “If a tree falls.”
We’re saying that we heard it, we and are doing something about it.”

We hope that the people behind the Treemendous Project next tackle the age-old question of what came first, the chicken or the egg.  We look forward to seeing signs for the Eggtastic Project at some point in time.
