School is supposed to be a place that nurtures and grows the mind of a child. Given this, what does it say about a school that cannot nurture or grow a couple of evergreens or trees like the long established and recently troubled Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn?

This place currently looks as though it should be used as a gulag, but hey, if you’re interested, they are currently accepting applications and the tuition is a mere $9,500 for Pre-Kindergarten, $17,500 for 12th Grade, and a mere $32,500 for Project Succeed — which isn’t even an actual grade level in school.

New Fiona Apple Song 2010 — So Sleepy

If you’re like us, you’re a fan of the awesomely talented Fiona Apple. Though it’s been out for about two months, we just stumbled across a new one from Ms. Apple, entitled So Sleepy.

The song was originally written by a charity association of students and is out on a fundraiser compilation called “Chickens In Love.” Enjoy!

Subway Advertising In A Modern World

We spotted these Continental.com advertisements on all of the turnstiles at Wall Street Station.

They’re just another step into the world of creepy and odd advertising. Since it’s going there, we might as well embrace it and say that we look forward to the day when all of the MTA and other public property of NYC has been sold off to advertisers. It’ll be a day and age where municipal employees wear coveralls and look like Nascar drivers wearing no less than 50 advertisements patched onto their uniforms and it will be a land where subway announcements will likely sound like this:

“Do not hold the Capitol One Credit Card Doors. Holding the Capitol One Credit Card Doors open delays Chase Bank Subway Service.”

“Due to an emergency at Club Med Station, there is no downtown express service.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, as of July 2005, the Wal-Mart Police Department has the right to check large bags and packages within the Chase Bank Subway System at the Wynn Resorts and Casino sponsored City of New York.”

“If you see a suspicious package, please report it to a FreeCreditReport.com agent or Wal-Mart Police Officer.”

“Welcome to the Chase Bank Subway System at the Wynn Resorts and Casino sponsored City of New York. There is an uptown Starbucks train at BP Station, four stations away. There is also a downtown McDonald’s train at AT&T station, one station away.”

“The Swatch Watch Company would like to let you know that the time is now, 11:30AM.”

“The unlimited monthly Metrocard price is now, 5,000 Pepsi Bucks.”

The Mets Are So Bad That…

It’s not easy being a fan of the Mets for various reasons: front running fans of the Yankees try to dominate the city’s baseball talk, ownership and management seems to have had their heads up their rear ends for much of the past two decades, the new billion dollar stadium isn’t fan friendly, and several of the players don’t seem to play with any heart or love of the game.

All of these combining factors lead to a Saturday night game that has the stands looking like this…

Mainly empty! Now, we actually prefer the lighter crowds due to Citi Field being so poorly designed (or implemented) that when a large crowd is drawn to the stadium it becomes one giant bottleneck and seating is terribly uncomfortable, but the Mets are so bad that it has come to this…

A dude had to watch the game with a bag over his head. Mets, please get things together, finally!
