I Hate NYC #54 – Poorly Timed Impatience

For the life of us, we simply don’t understand why New Yorkers cannot take something in, appreciate a thing, and wait for things to be less hectic.  After all, New York is a city that is all about waiting for things.

There are long lines everywhere, and for just about everything.  These lines easily up to two hours at times to get through — we’re pointing at you, Shake Shack/Grimaldi’s fools.  Despite being able to endure these long waits for food that is in our humble opinion mediocre at best, New Yorkers hate to wait the one minute for a stop light to change, and more so than that, they hate the idea of waiting an hour or so for the marathon to conclude before crossing the marathon’s route.

While we saw many a marathon route crosser, we caught these two guys moving some exercise equipment during the marathon.  Mind you, these images are cropped and they were cutting through a seemingly endless line of runners (who had to dodge them) to move their things.

We were hoping that they were going to start moving an animal farm next, maybe next year.

Subway Advertising In A Modern World

We spotted these Continental.com advertisements on all of the turnstiles at Wall Street Station.

They’re just another step into the world of creepy and odd advertising.  Since it’s going there, we might as well embrace it and say that we look forward to the day when all of the MTA and other public property of NYC has been sold off to advertisers.  It’ll be a day and age where municipal employees wear coveralls and look like Nascar drivers wearing no less than 50 advertisements patched onto their uniforms and it will be a land where subway announcements will likely sound like this:

“Do not hold the Capitol One Credit Card Doors.  Holding the Capitol One Credit Card Doors open delays Chase Bank Subway Service.”

“Due to an emergency at Club Med Station, there is no downtown express service.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, as of July 2005, the Wal-Mart Police Department has the right to check large bags and packages within the Chase Bank Subway System at the Wynn Resorts and Casino sponsored City of New York.”

“If you see a suspicious package, please report it to a FreeCreditReport.com agent or Wal-Mart Police Officer.”

“Welcome to the Chase Bank Subway System at the Wynn Resorts and Casino sponsored City of New York.  There is an uptown Starbucks train at BP Station, four stations away.  There is also a downtown McDonald’s train at AT&T station, one station away.”

“The Swatch Watch Company would like to let you know that the time is now, 11:30AM.”

“The unlimited monthly Metrocard price is now, 5,000 Pepsi Bucks.”

Those will be the days… :)

HSBC Will Be Closed Memorial Day

We noticed that HSBC will be closed on Memorial Day…

We also noticed that HSBC goes in the complete opposite of Chase as far as telling how the bank will be closed — Chase’s notice looks inviting and doesn’t appear to be in the same vain as some sort of nuclear countdown warning the way HSBC is.

Chase Bank Is Open Presidents’ Day

Since many a Google searcher has been stopping by BeehiveHairdresser in recent days looking to see if Chase Bank will open on Presidents’ Day, we figured that we should just go right on ahead and snap a shot of the sign on the front door of the local Chase Bank.

As you can see, Chase Bank will be open on said day this year and if you take a look at the sign from last year you will also notice that they used a different copy editor for their signage this year.

Fisheyed Chase Bank

In exchange of the analog Diana fisheye camera that we received for Christmas (see yellow fisheyed beetle pic) we got some lens attachments for our digital camera.

This is a shot of an old Lincoln Savings bank that was built in the 1930s that is now home to a Chase Bank.

It’s a classic ‘bank’ building.

And with this, we just got hooked on a whole other side of photography and look forward to exploring it more.
