We couldn’t help but find this AOL Jobs article about how good looking women earn more money and advance more than women who are less attractive. 

While we aren’t of the female persuasion, we know first hand how looks alone can make or break the opportunity for getting a job.  We’ve been hired twice in large part to our looks  — at Citigroup. 

That’s not to say that we were unqualified when it came to our skills or that we were or are the among the best looking people around; but our looks came into the final decision getting hiring.

The first time this happened it took about a year before our female VP informed us that we were hired off of our looks.

The second time we knew right away during the interview process.  

The female executive flat out told us that she’s been looking for a considerable amount of time for the ‘right person’ and that people who they were pulling in for interviews based off of resumes weren’t attractive enough to sit outside her office — this came after our having passed numerous interviews by some the gay men whom reported to her.

While we like to think that they were all just checking up on our proficiency in Word and Excel, they were more likely sizing us up as to whether or not we would meet the criteria of being able to sit near the executive without drawing the attention of being ‘the ugly one.’
