Skate Brooklyn

While strolling down Flatbush Avenue, we happened upon a (new to us) skate shop called Skate Brooklyn.  It looks to be right on on the edge of the destruction of Brooklyn, which is the perfect symbol of what is wrong with the greed that the richest people in the world have.

In any event, Skate Brooklyn sits directly next to the boarded up tile business that sits across the street from the under construction Barclays Center, as such, Skate Brooklyn has managed to utilize the blue plywood walls quite well with this awesome advertisement.  It’s beautiful art, and great to see in the shadow of the nastiness happening across the street.

Atlantic Yards Ethnic Humor

We’re guessing that Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz doesn’t have any aspirations of having the good people of Ireland purchase the bonds that will pay for the construction at the Atlantic Yards/destruction of Brooklyn, because if he was trying to get Irish investment in Brooklyn, it’s going to be an uphill battle with “jokes” like this one being front and center at the opening of the Barclays Center construction pit.

Here’s a close-up of the “joke.”

They probably keep their more racy jokes that start off something along the likes of: “Three black guys walk into a bar…” “Two midgets have an erection…”  “What does a man in India have to do to…” on the other side of that bin.

Annoying Jay-Z / Nets Billboard Knocked Off

Yesterday afternoon we noticed that the huge and obnoxious billboard of Jay-Z and Mikhail Prokhorov toting the New Jersey Nets that claimed “Blueprint for Greatness” high up above Madison Square Garden was thankfully being painted over.

The quick removal of this utterly pointless billboard pretty much solidifies our opinion about the Nets — they’re not great enough to last more than one month in New York.
