Yesterday, as we passed the Park Slope Food Coop, we noticed that their sign is all of a sudden misspelled. It now states that it is the “Park Slope Eood Coop.”
There’s a lesson in this, and the lesson is that communism is never the answer…amiright?
Reminder: Bay Ridge Co-op This Sunday
To celebrate its 2nd Anniversary the Bay Ridge Food Co-op is having a potluck locavores picnic on Sunday August 1st from noon to 4PM.
The picnic will also be helping raise awareness of September’s “New York State Locavore Challenge” and will take place in Shore Road Park at 79th Street and Shore Road — all are welcome.
The event will also feature a kids’ balloon toss, tug-of-war and a game of kickball.
Organizers are asking for participants to bring food that uses locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible (and food that can last several hours in heat).

Though still lacking a storefront to go purchase fresh food, the 300-plus member strong Bay Ridge Food Co-op has come a long way since its inception (they run the Yellow Hook CSA that brought us the sexy carrot) and is turning two years old.
