Passive Aggressive Irony

After we took a photo of Bay Ridge Bicycle World for the post yesterday, we decided to walk down 90th Street from 3rd Avenue to Ridge Boulevard, which is a beautiful tree lined street made up of modest two story homes.  While walking down the odd numbered side, we stumbled across multiple passive aggressive notes meant to get people to pick up after their dogs.

Each sign “needed” to have nine staples and pins used for affixing on three different trees, because simply calling out the slob who isn’t picking up after their dog is too much work for some people, and we all know how leaving passive aggressive signs up for all to see is healthy and sane.

What irks us most about these signs is the fact the maker is all up in arms over people breaking one law that is rarely enforced in New York City, so they went out and broke another law that is rarely enforced in New York City.  Each sign is a $150 fine waiting to happen.  Oh, the irony… or is it stupidity?

We’d like to quote Axl Rose from Use Your Illusion II with how we feel about the person who made and stapled these signs to the trees, they’re “nothing but a f*ckin’ p%$$y.”

Poor Photo Op

This is the hilarious photograph that we took of the M&M’s factory in Hackettstown, NJ.

We originally intended on taking the photograph for our own use — because we wanted to quietly look at it on our cell phone, think about how there were billions of M&M’s inside, and then say “giggety” as we would then presumably fall into a deep sleep where we would dream about swimming across an ocean of M&M’s — but that silver SUV managed to block any and all aspects of what we were trying to capture, i.e. the three giant M&M’s that mark the front gate of the factory.

So here we are, the best darned photo op of a New Jersey corporate center in the middle of farmland, and the best part of the shot is covered up by an SUV… how fitting, New Jersey!

Esperanto Cafe Closes With Irony

We were shocked to learn that the popular Manhattan coffee shop, Esperanto Cafe, on MacDougal Street has closed down due to an apparent fued between cafe owners and the building landlord.

We’ve enjoyed a time or two at this spot.  That said, with it being closed it has left MacDougal Street full of irony…

Hopefully that touch of irony is enough to sooth to soul of the various writers who would go to Esperanto way in the middle of the night to do their thing in a friendly environment.  Other than that we imagine that Alanis Morissette is giddy at the ironic value here.
