We don’t quite understand the idea behind the new advertising campaign that New York State is currently doing for the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots.

While we find it a bit redundant to advertise the lottery since millions of people actively continue to play it, they’re also taking public property and putting price tickets on them as if they are for sale. We guess it is insinutating that if you win one of the jackpots you will have enough money to buy these items of public property.
That said, the Mega Millions jackpot starts out at $12-million. Figure about half of that will go straight to taxes which leaves the winner with $6-million.
Do they really think that the big old Statue of Liberty could go for a mere $6-million dollars on the open market?
