Manhattan’s Geese Couple

We spotted a happy couple of geese at their nest along the Hudson River at about 61st Street on a tiny, man-made island of old stones, just off the coast of Manhattan.

The island appears to be an old 19th Century pier piling support of some sort that is roughly ten foot square and roughly ten feet or so above the waterline — and it’s making a perfect location for two geese to nest!

We watched the male standing guard near the edge while the female stayed tucked away over her nest — and what we presume to be her eggs.

If these geese are smart, they’d nail down the deed to that island — Donald Trump might want add to his nearby Trump-neighborhood and build a ‘luxury’ tower or two on their island of joy.

A Honeycomb Wasp Nest

We noticed a decomposing wasp nest perched high up in a stinky ginkgo tree on a busy Brooklyn corner.

They’ve moved on to nest elsewhere this year and we can only hope that this nest safely falls in front of someone so that they are scared clueless.
