Esperanto Cafe Closes With Irony

We were shocked to learn that the popular Manhattan coffee shop, Esperanto Cafe, on MacDougal Street has closed down due to an apparent fued between cafe owners and the building landlord.

We’ve enjoyed a time or two at this spot.  That said, with it being closed it has left MacDougal Street full of irony…

Hopefully that touch of irony is enough to sooth to soul of the various writers who would go to Esperanto way in the middle of the night to do their thing in a friendly environment.  Other than that we imagine that Alanis Morissette is giddy at the ironic value here.

When Signs Fail

We recently became hooked on Failblog.  The site is hysterical and so when we saw this sign on a glass door we immediately thought of Failblog.

The sign is crazy!  It wants customers to walk through a glass window and then into a display instead of using the door.

Auto Body Shop No Longer Breaking Knees?

The sign on the lower half of this Bay Ridge auto body shop has us perplexed.

‘Body & Fender Work’ as well as ‘Collision Repairs’ appear to us to be the normal things that an auto body shop would do as part of regular business, so to announce that they “now do…” those things sure does leave us wondering what they used to do.

Perhaps they know of a good vendor to help organize our waste management.
